Though I never realized it until much later, ever since I was a little kid I have wanted to be a designer. Whether it was drawing massive and elaborate dungeons, building furniture with my father, cooking with my mother, or trying to write new songs for my clarinet (that one admittedly was less successful), I was always creating. Once I finally realized this in high school, I dropped my plans to become an engineer, entered the architecture program at Miami University (the one in Ohio that is), and never looked back. From that day forth, I have been in the wonderful world of design, which has led me to all sorts of places I could never have anticipated. Whether it has been developing floor plans for my high school, constructing homes for Habitat for Humanity, animating for the Chicago Architecture Foundation, developing children’s storybook apps for the iPad, or writing gripping adventures and characters for my D&D players (yep, I'm a nerd, I said it), I have enjoyed it all and would not choose to do anything else.
For those times when I am not busily designing or writing something in my head, I enjoy getting out to go hiking, playing tennis, cooking with my wife, or indulging in the occasional round of fencing.
